I’m not going to sugarcoat it, life is hard. Sometimes you just don’t know how much more you can take. And that’s when the most important thing is being able to see your way through dark times with a smile on your face and self-confidence in your heart.
No one said it would be easy, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible! So if there’s any advice I could give you from all my experience of being through this before, it’s this: Just keep swimming! You’ll get there eventually as long as you’re willing to work for what you want and believe in yourself no matter what anyone else says or does. It might not seem like things will ever get better, but I promise they will.
6 tips for remaining positive in times of struggle
1. Remind yourself that whatever it is, you’re not alone
It’s easy to be brought down when it seems like no one else has felt what you feel. But if you took the time to investigate you’d find that many people have experienced these same feelings at some point in their lives. Even if they haven’t directly experienced your struggles, they definitely know what it’s like to be in a low place.
2. Keep busy
Whatever you decide to do, don’t just sit around and wallow in self-pity all day long. Sure, taking some downtime for yourself is fine, but if you can find something productive to occupy your mind with even when there doesn’t seem to be any positive outlet, then that’s even better.
3. Do something nice for someone else
We all know the feeling of wanting to be noticed and appreciated by our peers sometimes, so why not take some time out of your day to make someone feel special? They deserve it more than you know, and doing this will help your mind stay focused on the good things in life rather than all the bad.
4. Avoid negative influences
If someone is always dragging you down, then there’s no reason to keep them around anymore! You don’t need anyone to make you feel unworthy or undeserving of positivity in your life.
If someone always has something bad to say, then keep your distance from them or show them the door.
5. Practice gratitude
No matter how low things get for you, there is still a lot going on in your life that’s good and positive! Remind yourself of all the great things you have going for you right now by practicing gratitude. Even if you’ve been dealt a bad hand, there’s still something good hiding in the shadows of your life.
6. Stay updated on current events
Staying updated with what’s going on around the world will help keep your mind off the negative aspects of your own little bubble and show you that there is a lot more going on out there. And even if there are many terrible things taking place around you, there are also many positive ones too!
Awareness is key to making sure you don’t get bogged down by life’s little problems, but remember that it doesn’t do you any good to internalize the world’s problems either. Things are never perfect, but they aren’t always horrible either.
