Life throws all sorts of challenges in our paths, and the wisest among us know that those tough times are often the best times to develop resilience. While it’s wonderful to enjoy a good relationship and find joy in the everyday moments, life is too unpredictable for us to rely on this alone.
Courage comes from facing difficult times and believing that we can come out on the other side as better people. Even Epicurus, one of history’s staunchest philosophers, knew that courage is developed during dark days, not beaming ones. It may sound counterintuitive – after all, who wants to make time for hardship? – but courage isn’t something we can develop without challenge.
If we want to be courageous people, then facing adversity with an open heart and a brave spirit is part of what it takes.
